To the profiles in the previous post on epitomes of Global Musicianship should be added that of Cuban-American composer and musical leader Tania León. León’s music is noteworthy in its full integration of non-tonality with the Afro-Cuban rhythms she grew up with, a further fresh expression of what has happened distinctively in the Americas, the ultimate incubator of transcultural musical activity.
